Background As of the 1st of August 2007 every house with 4 bedrooms or more which is marketed for sale will have to have a Home Information Pack, compiled by the seller. A key part of this pack is an Energy Performance Certificate which recognises the need for environmental awareness in the housing market in response to government legislation. Energy Performance certificates (EPC) Buildings are the biggest source of Carbon Dioxide emissions in the UK, and homes contribute more greenhouse gases than any other buildings. To raise awareness of this the Energy Performance Certificate has been introduced. The certificate can only be produced by a qualified and licensed energy assessor following an energy survey of the building. |
